Wet feed guaranted

el ninoEl Niño is announced this year. This means that instead of the short rainy season before the hot Christmas holidays, the rains are longer and, above all, heavier. The road in front of the gate to my compound has its problems with this.

The road itself is a dirt road made of hardened and compacted sand - with the usual potholes. Sometimes, when the potholes and, therefore, the puddles become too big after a downpour, someone dumps more sand or gravel on the spot. Normal traffic then presses it into the ground and fills the gaps with more sand. Of course, this is no substitute for drainage and the puddle soon returns.

There is a particularly large one in front of the main gate to my compound. If it rains heavily in the early morning hours, you can't get off the site without getting your feet wet. As my wellies have stayed in Nyahururu, I roll up my trouser legs, take off my sandals and walk barefoot through the puddle to my tuktuk, sandals in hand. My feet dry faster than my sandals.
